Expert insights: Leveraging eSignatures within Salesforce

A few weeks ago we hosted an expert session “Signeasy for Salesforce”— To provide users with insights on how to best leverage our eSignature integration within Salesforce.

The webinar was hosted by our Global Head of Sales, Sameer Pant and the Head of Integrations, Vijaya Bhaskara Rao. If you missed it, you can watch the recording here.

In this blog, we will share a round-up of the most important takeaways from that expert session.

The rise of eSignatures

The pandemic sparked a paradigm shift, with several companies foregoing traditional tools to adopt modern-day solutions. Businesses across the world adapted to new tools, revised existing processes, and acclimated to a whole new world of remote working and digital transactions.

During this transition, one solution that gained immense popularity was eSignature platforms. Teams were not only able to improve sales contract conversions and productivity with the adoption of eSignature solutions, but they were also able to leverage eSignature capabilities with Salesforce and other business tools.

Impact of eSignature tools on modern sales teams

According to industry standards, it takes approximately 3 hours to get one single document signed. There is a lot of unproductive time spent creating and manually signing tons of documents. These stacks of documents most often end up requiring signatures at multiple places. More time is then spent sending, and storing sales contracts, fetching them for future reference, and chasing that single point of contact.

Misplaced paperwork, manual errors and a never-ending cycle of back and forth between parties are just a few of the problems of the age-old traditional signature workflow.

eSignatures revolutionized the sales game with the digitization of the manual document signing process. Sales processes were simplified, and operations became more efficient. Now, a sales rep needs to only pick an existing template with pre-populated data, set up signers and the signing order, and send the document for signing with a single click.

They can now also track the progress and status of the deal and find out where things are stuck (e.g. which signer is delaying things). Instead of chasing that single POC, they can directly communicate with and remind the person concerned.

How can sales teams improve deal conversions

Salesforce combined with the power of eSignatures can be used for multiple use cases and are not just limited to sales documents and agreements. They can also be used for accepting sales compensations, confirming, onboarding and training new hires, tracking expense receipts, and more.

Productive sales cycles

Sales reps can pick up pre-populated documents directly from their individual Salesforce login. They don’t have to waste time finding it or chase the legal team to give them the latest version. It will be available, prefilled and auto-populated for them to quickly send out, thus avoiding instances when older versions get signed. This vastly improves productivity and helps manage the sales cycle better.

Efficient document workflows

Every sales rep can identify with the pain of dealing with a single POC. All one can do is send the contract and, and be on top of them to chase multiple people in their organization that need to sign and review it. But with the introduction of eSignatures within Salesforce, a sales rep can send the document, add the signers and define the signing order (e.g., the contract first goes to the IT department and then the CFO or the VP of Sales etc. to be reviewed and signed).

Informed selling

It also allows them to be on top of their sales cycle and, depending on the product or service, by observing the data available. This also helps the sales team sell and position the product/ service better. This information also helps improve the selling process during the demo, decision-making, and negotiation stages.

Improved customer relationships

eSignatures also help in maintaining more amicable relationships with customers. Usually, a sales rep gets so frustrated during the traditional document signing process and with all the chasing, and follow-ups ruining relationships, the automated system-generated reminders make for a very neat trick.

Reps can now track the status of the document right from the opportunity level, see the signing order, see who has viewed it, signed it and where it is stuck. Depending on the title, and persona of the signer on whom the document is stuck, the rep can intervene without multiple follow-up emails and forecast meetings.

There is no awkward following-up; businesses can have a nicer sales relationship with their customers, and the sales team can meet their quarterly targets without last-minute panic-induced frenzies.
